Welcome To Our Community!!!
Ella Puru, one of the seven officially recognized indigenous groups in Panama, is located in the Parque Soberania of Gamboa. The community proudly welcomes visitors to share their tradition and culture. The Embera community numbers less than 30,000 in Panama and depends on agriculture and tourism to sustain their communities and protect their environment.
The Embera women wear brightly covered wrap skirts called Parumas and the men wear traditional clothes. The Embera people are artisans in Panama and are very well known for their finely woven baskets and masks as well as the high quality and intricate wood carvings of cocobolo and tagua carvings.
We will be glad to share our culture with you.
